About Me
Merited Prints - 2009 PPA
I acquired my love for photography at a young age while attending Schenley High School in Pittsburgh, PA. I took pictures of my high school classmates and developed them in my bedroom, which I had painted black and converted into my first darkroom/studio. My early cameras were a 35mm Leica IIIC and a 4x5 Speed Graphic.
After high school, I worked at a photographic supply store where I got to use the latest camera equipment of that period. I was mentored by a Premier Photographer, Charles Tennie, "One Shot" Harris. After a few years in grooming my skills, I took a break and joined the US Air Force. This turned into a 22 year career which included my serving in Korea and Vietnam. Upon retiring from the U. S. Air Force, I started my own Facility Maintenance Company, Grace Industries, Inc., which is still operating today. Throughout all these years I have maintained my proficiency in photography which has allowed me to make a smooth transition from film to digital photography. I maintain memberships in the following professional organizations: VPPA - Virginia Professional Photography Association SEPPA - Southeastern Professional Photography Association PPA - Professional Photography of America
